When will “almost” finally become Cindy’s forever? ❤️

Cindy has spent years in the shelter. Over those years, people have noticed her. People have loved her. We’ve even heard “I almost adopted Cindy.” But somehow, it has always been almost. And we genuinely don’t understand why.

Cindy is a lovely dog. She deserves what every dog deserves. A home. A family. A comfortable place to sleep. Someone who is happy to see her every morning and someone she can call her own.

Yes, she has spent many years in a shelter. But she still has time. She is not too old, and she is certainly not too far gone. There is still so much life for Cindy to live outside these gates.

We desperately want her to have that chance. ❤️

A happy ending ❤️

Sometimes you need to look back to see just how far they’ve come.

When Aretha first arrived, she was incredibly scared. She spent 4 years with us, avoiding people, was unsure of everything around her and found even the smallest parts of everyday life overwhelming.

Nearly a year after being adopted, she’s still a sensitive girl, but look at her now. 🥹

She loves her walks, her toys, her doggy siblings and friends. She no longer needs someone standing beside her in the garden or coaxing her to eat and drink. And perhaps most importantly, she now happily taps her family when she wants her favourite thing... belly rubs. ❤️

Her adopter said something we think is so important:

“All the small brave steps add up. When that shy one, the shut down one comes out the other side, there is the most special dog waiting.”

Aretha is such a beautiful reminder of why we ask people not to overlook the scared and shy dogs in shelters, or the ones that spend more time here. They may need more time, patience and understanding, but watching them slowly realise they are safe and loved is something incredibly special.

We absolutely adore Aretha. Met her last year at the centre. She reminded me of our Bonnie. Nicola Summerfield has done wonders for her ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Emmanuella has spent enough of her life living for someone else. Now it’s her turn. ❤️

For years, Emmanuella was used for breeding. Since coming to us, she’s started discovering a completely different life. She’s going on walks, exploring the world and slowly learning that there is so much more out there for her.

But she’s still experiencing all of this from a shelter. What we really want is to see her discovering home life, with a family of her own, a comfortable place to sleep and people who love her simply for being her.

2nd Chance Dogs was meant to be her stepping stone, not her final destination. ❤️
