Shorty′s Story

For months... maybe even years... I wandered the roads between an industrial area and the nearby farms. It was the only life I knew. I had my little routines, my favourite hiding spots, and I always managed to get by.

Then one scorching summer day, everything changed.

I was casually crossing the road on my way to my usual snoozing spot beneath a parked trailer. I didn't even notice the huge lorry coming towards me. The driver swerved to avoid me, and I ran as fast as I could, diving under the trailer where I thought I'd be safe.

Luckily for me, the car behind that lorry belonged to the wonderful ladies from 2nd Chance Dogs. They saw what happened, pulled over immediately, and came to help me. Catching me wasn't difficult—I may have been living on the streets, but I've always loved people.

Now I'm safe at the centre, and I still can't believe this is my life. I get fed twice a day, I have my very own paddling pool, and there's even a cooling system in my kennel so I can nap comfortably on the hottest days.

Can you believe it? After all that time surviving on my own, I finally know what it feels like to be safe... and I think I'm going to like this life.

Character & Temperament

I'm a friendly little fella who absolutely loves people... maybe a little too much, some might say! I mean, I'd happily climb over a fence just to come and say hello to you.

I'm also learning how to play with toys. I've already mastered the art of chasing a tennis ball! Now, the picking it up and bringing it back part... well, let's just say I'm still working on that. But hey, it's still great fun!

I haven't been introduced to the other dogs at the rescue just yet, as I'm still settling into my new routine. The ladies here think I'll do just fine with other dogs once I'm ready.

They've even enrolled me in training classes to help me learn how to walk nicely on a lead. We'll see how that goes! I'll be sure to keep you updated... and maybe even give you a review of my lessons.

For now, I'm simply enjoying my fresh start as a rescue dog, soaking up all the love, care, and adventures that come with it. I can't wait to see what comes next!

Ideal Home for Shorty

If you ask me, my perfect home is one where I'm part of the family. After spending so long fending for myself, I'd love a home where I can enjoy all the little things I've never really had—soft beds, fun walks, toys, tasty treats, and, most importantly, lots of human company.

I'm a people-loving little guy, so I'd be happiest with someone who enjoys having a four-legged shadow by their side. Whether we're going for an adventure, relaxing in the garden, or cuddling on the sofa, I'll be right there with you.

I'm still learning my manners, especially when it comes to walking nicely on a lead, so I'd love a family that's happy to continue my training using patience and kindness. I'm a clever boy and eager to learn!

I haven't met the other dogs at the rescue yet, but everyone here thinks I'll do well with friendly dogs after proper introductions.

Most of all, I'm looking for someone who will love me forever. I've survived life on my own... now I'm ready to spend the rest of it by your side.
