I am one of the Forty-Four

I am only eight months old.

Until a few days ago, my whole world was a cage I shared with 10 other dogs. There was no space to escape, no room to rest. We stepped on each other, fought out of fear, and our little bodies carry the scars—some old, some still fresh.

I am Baela my brother Aegon and I never left each other's side.

We were underweight. Our eyes constantly ran. We coughed until it hurt to breathe. Our swollen bellies weren't full of food—they were full of worms. We didn't know gentle hands. We only knew fear.

Then everything changed.

Someone opened the cage.

Now we're safe. We are receiving treatment for our kennel cough, our wounds, and the parasites that stole our strength. We're still scared, but for the first time, we're learning that people can be kind.

We are just two of the 44 dogs rescued that day.

We never got to be puppies.

We hope we still have the chance.

Character & Temperament

'm a little braver than my brother! When we meet, I'll be the first to come over and give you a good sniff... and of course, I'll be hoping you've got a tasty treat for me!

Even when the world feels big and a little scary, I find the courage to come and investigate. My curiosity is helping me grow braver every single day.

I'm still learning that people are kind, and with a little patience, love, and plenty of snacks, my confidence continues to blossom.
