Ricky′s Story

My journey started in a difficult place. I was born in 2017 to a stray mother, with very little hope of ever having the safe and loving life every dog deserves.

For a short time, I thought things were going to change, but I was eventually taken to a private kennel where I was left to fend for myself. Thankfully, 2nd Chance Dogs stepped in and gave me the chance to be safe and cared for.

I came to the shelter in 2020, and I have been here ever since.

Years have passed, and I have watched many dogs find their forever homes while I continue to wait for someone to give me my chance. I am now an older boy, but my heart is still full of love, and I still hope that someone will see me and choose me.

I don’t need a perfect home. I just need a family who will appreciate me, give me comfort, and show me that it’s never too late to find a place to belong.

Character & Temperament

I can be a little shy at first and may need some time to feel comfortable with new people. Once I trust you, my sweet personality starts to shine.

I am friendly with other dogs and enjoy their company. I’m also a clever boy who enjoys learning and already know some basic commands.

With patience, understanding, and a little time, we can build a special bond together.

Ideal Home for Ricky

I am looking for a patient and understanding family who will give me the time I need to build trust and feel safe.

A calm home where I can adjust at my own pace would mean the world to me. Having another friendly dog by my side could also help me feel more confident and comfortable.

I may need a little extra patience in the beginning, but once I trust you, I will show you the loving and loyal companion I can be.

I am hoping to find someone willing to give me a chance and start this beautiful journey together.
