Xarkas′s Story

I was purchased as a puppy from an immigrant and initially enjoyed the first few months of my life feeling loved and well cared for at home. However, as I grew older and larger, I found myself spending more and more time alone in the backyard, chained and wearing a prong collar. Unfortunately, my owner began neglecting me, forgetting to feed me or provide water. The hunger and loneliness became unbearable, and I would often cry for attention. Concerned neighbors noticed my plight and urged my owner to be more responsible. Despite their pleas, my situation did not improve.

After my owner passed away, his brother took over, but the neglect persisted. The neighbors, realizing my desperate situation, took matters into their own hands, throwing food over the high garden wall to help sustain me. They eventually reported the situation to the authorities, leading to my rescue by 2nd Chance Dogs. Fortunately, they had the space and willingness to provide me with the care and attention I desperately needed.

Character & Temperament

When I first arrived at the center, I was incredibly afraid of people, having spent most of my life in solitude. The knowledgeable folks at 2nd Chance Dogs gave me the time and space I needed until I could trust them, marking the beginning of my rehabilitation journey.

Now, I'm discovering what it means to be a dog for the first time in my life, and my trainer says I've made tremendous progress. They describe me as very clever and playful. I've mastered numerous cues, and I'm currently honing my leash-walking skills.

My absolute favorite activity is frolicking in the water, so much so that they've affectionately nicknamed me "the land seal of 2nd Chance." And of course, I adore good old-fashioned playtime!

Ideal Home for Xarkas

I'm hoping to find an experienced guardian who understands my unique story and can provide the patience and love I need. Water play is my absolute favorite, and if you're up for some fun in the sun, we'll make a splash together! So, what do you say? Let's embark on this adventure of companionship and create some wonderful memories. I'm eagerly waiting for a family to call my own!
