After a terrifying 45-minute chase through traffic, risking my life on a busy main road, I was finally caught.
I was taken to the vet, where it was discovered that I was severely underweight, had no microchip, and had likely been used as a breeding machine over and over again.
I was taken to the centre. My body needed time, and they knew it.
They waited for me to heal. They didn’t rush me. And when they looked a little closer, they discovered a secret I was carrying.
I was going to be a mama.
My people were ready to protect me and the tiny life growing inside me. They chose love. They chose care. They stayed close and hoped with me.
But sometimes, even when everything is done right, the world can still be cruel.
I gave birth… and my puppy didn’t make it.
My body was too tired. I had been through too much for too long. That tiny heart tried so hard, but it wasn’t meant to stay.
So now I’m resting again. Healing again. Mourning a life that was loved before it ever took a breath.
