Danzy's Story

https://www.2ndchancedogs.org/details/905/Danzy/?id=905

My name is Dazy, and although I'm only seeven months old, I've already lived in more homes than any puppy ever should.

I started my life as a gift. A father bought me for his daughter, and I thought I had found my forever family. I was excited, full of love, and ready to be someone's best friend.

But after only a few weeks, I was passed on to a relative.

Then, just a few weeks later, I was passed on again to another family member.

Before I could even understand where I belonged, I was moved back to the original family.

In total, I spent only about two months with them, but those months were filled with confusion. One house after another. Different people. Different rules. Different smells. No stability. No security.

The daughter I was bought for didn't really care about me. Like many teenagers, she had other interests and other things she wanted to do. I was just left trying to figure out where I belonged and who would love me enough to keep me.

Thankfully, someone realised that this wasn't the life a puppy should have.

They reached out to a volunteer from 2nd Chance Dogs, and she came immediately to my rescue.

Looking back now, I know she truly saved me.

She welcomed me into her home as a foster, and within just a few days she could see the damage that had already been done to me at only six months old.

I had severe separation anxiety because everyone I loved seemed to disappear.

I was terrified of any animal bigger than me.

I didn't know how to interact properly with other dogs or even with people.

Despite being told I had always lived inside a house, I had absolutely no house manners.

Most of all, I was scared. Scared of new things. Scared of unfamiliar situations. Scared of making mistakes. Scared of being abandoned again.

But my foster mum didn't give up on me.

She gave me patience when I was anxious.

She gave me love when I was frightened.

She gave me guidance when I didn't understand the world around me.

Day by day, little by little, she helped me learn that not all humans leave, that I was safe, and that I was finally worth fighting for.

It wasn't easy. It took hard work, consistency, and endless kindness. But together, we got there.

Today, my foster mum says I'm ready.

Ready to spread my wings.

Ready to leave my past behind.

Ready to find the family that will love me forever.
