Kayce′s Story

I was running in panic along the gates of 2nd Chance Dogs. Back and forth, not knowing where else to go, cold, scared, and hoping someone would notice me.

Thankfully, they did. The humans saw me on their cameras and came outside to help. I wasn’t easy to catch though… I was too frightened. But the lady had a secret weapon — delicious sausages.

For about 20 minutes she patiently tossed them closer and closer while I ran away… then came back… then ran again.

Until finally, I let her catch me.

I was filthy — covered in cow poo from crossing farms — and shaking from the cold and fear.

They gave me a warm bath, good food, and a safe place to rest.

And once I felt safe… my sweet and loving side finally came out.

Character & Temperament

I’m a sweet little boy who will absolutely melt in your arms. Cuddling is one of my favorite things in the world, and I’m always happiest when I’m close to my people. I’m very gentle by nature and I love giving and receiving affection.

I’m wonderful with people and I adore children.

Other dogs can make me a little nervous, especially if they are very energetic or bouncy, so I prefer calm introductions and gentle friends.

I also walk very nicely on the lead, so going for peaceful strolls together is something we can enjoy every day.

Ideal Home for Kayce

My dream home would be a calm and loving place where I can feel safe and close to my people. I love affection and cuddles, so a family who enjoys snuggling and spending time together would make me very happy.

Because I can be a little shy around very energetic dogs, I would do best in a home with calm dog friends or possibly as the only dog where I can soak up all the love.

I’m wonderful with people and children, so a family with gentle kids who want a sweet companion to love would be perfect for me.

I also enjoy nice, relaxed walks and I’m very polite on the lead, so I would love a family who will take me along for peaceful strolls and little adventures.
