Alona′s Story

Hello, I'm Alona,

Back in August of 2022 I teetered on the brink of death. Severely anemic, emaciated, and adorned with wounds, my will to live persisted, but hope was dwindling. Seeking help, I ventured into yards, only to be met with brooms, cold water, and even threats with a gun. Amidst the harshness, a kind lady tried to aid me, leaving food as a gesture of compassion.

In a last-ditch effort, she reached out to 2nd Chance Dogs. Despite their full capacity, my photo tugged at their hearts, prompting them to make room for me in foster care. The vet predicted I wouldn't survive another week on the streets. With extensive treatments and blood transfusions, my condition stabilized, though regular vet visits remain crucial to my well-being.

Character & Temperament

Despite all the serious health problems I face, I never lose hope. Every day, I wake up ready to wag my tail, sniff the air, and enjoy whatever little joy the world has to offer. I’m a fighter—not just surviving, but truly living. I may need extra care, time, and yes, even more money than most, but I’m living proof that every dog deserves a second chance, no matter how tough the journey.

Some days are harder than others, but I keep going—because I want to live. I want to run, to play, to love and be loved. I don’t give up, and I don’t let my health define me. I still greet every cuddle with a grateful heart and every walk with excited paws.

I’m not just a dog with a medical file. I’m a soul full of love, loyalty, and determination. And I’m here to remind the world that dogs like me are worth fighting for. Because sometimes, all it takes is one person to believe in us—and we’ll show you just how strong we really are.
