Tommy & Friends Enrichment Centre

I’m Jo and I am a qualified accredited trainer through the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers). I specialize in Canine Enrichment. I run Furry Tails Dog School I have always been a strong believer that dogs need to be mentally stimulated as well as physically. It can help to prevent behavioral problems such as reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety whilst building confidence, relieves boredom, it’s bonding between you and your dog and all the time they are having fun. I saw a plea for assistance from a rescue center based in Cyprus called 2nd Chance Dogs.. They needed someone to help them with a enrichment program for Tommy. They had just taken in Tommy a beautiful Dachshund Cross, who was dumped by his owner after he was hit by a vehicle on Christmas day and had a severe spinal injury that has now left him paralyzed in his rear legs. you can see his video here.. https://vimeo.com/312955759 2nd Chance Dogs are a 100% no kill rescue center are desperate to add an enrichment program for Tommy to help him relieve him from boredom, anxiety and to make his life more pleasant. I couldn't resist to volunteer my services to assist Tommy and will be visiting their Center in Cyprus between the 14th and 17th of March to implement a enrichment program for Tommy. While visiting there, I will be also helping them to implement an Enrichment program for the rest of the dogs in their center. They have over 60 dogs at any time in their care and seeing that they are a no kill rescue center some of the dogs are there for over 1200 days now.. You can see their dogs available for adoption here --> https://www.2ndchancedogs.org/dogs/ Besides using allot of recycled things such as Decking wood, Bales of hay, Logs Sliced Tree stumps, Paddling pools, old Astro turf, Wood chip, Sand, Car tyres and tractor tyres, Pebbles, Soil, Mint and Lavender, Rubber door matting ,Hessian door matting, Slides, Wendy houses, Wooden Pallets, Wooden Dog kennels, Wood for ramps, Old wooden benches Mixture of wooden poles and panels, Gazebo’s, Toddler climbing frames, Bin lids, Old bins We will still need to purchase some enrichment toys, slow feeders snuffle mats and other items for the center. We will need at least 60 Kongs, 20 snuffle mats, 60 slow feeders and other toys that we will have to purchase. Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated by Tommy and his friends at the center to help make their life better.
