Let me introduce myself, I am Nadia. My story is so common in Cyprus. I was roaming for weeks in an appalling condition, in a village in Nicosia, but no one bothered to help me. At some point the municipality collected me and drove me to our vets. After a while, the municipality called the vets and asked them to euthanize me as the private shelter that they buy services from, refused to take me in.
The vets couldn’t do that, so they sent us some photos and asked if we could help.
You see, although I have leishmaniasis, and Ehrlichia and I am very poorly and skinny (5 kg instead of 10 kg), I thankfully don't have any vital organs affected, so with the proper care and love I have a very good chance of becoming the healthy and beautiful dog that I should always have been.
I will need a long recovery time, which will create a big vet bill for 2nd Chance dogs who couldn't say no to taking me in after seeing me in this state. I am going to need Milteforan for her leishmaniasis treatment, allupron for a lifetime, a high-value food for at least a few more months, vitamins, treatments for her eyes, antibiotics, medicated shampoo for her skin condition and blood exams, rechecks and ultrasounds every couple of weeks to evaluate my progress.
