Help Moggy’s Hips Heal

When our gentle giant Moggy was found, he had been abandoned  tied up to a tree by his previous owner (as we found later) in the hot Cypriot summer.  His owner didn’t want him anymore and thought that this was the best way to get rid of him…. His fur was all knotted up.  He was smelly, thirsty and hungry but he was and always be very friendly. After a few hours of being tied up on the tree, a man saw him and called 2nd Chance, so our beautiful Moggy ended up with us. Unfortunately, despite his sweet temperament, we could tell that this dog was in great pain. He had all the necessary examinations and finally we had the diagnosis…. Dysplasia on both of his legs…. A condition that is causing the dog a great pain for his whole life if it remains untreated. We don’t want that for Moggy or for any of our dogs. We want him to live the rest of his life happy, healthy and pain free…. The total cost of the operation for both legs is €5000. It would be wonderful if you can help us to cover at least a part of the cost.  Every little helps. Below is our vet’s explanation/report: “Total hip replacement does give to painful dogs the opportunity to run free of pain and feel younger. This has great impact also on their behaviour. It's well known that dogs with moderate hip dysplasia that they seem 'normal' are having behavioural issues related to pain. Contrary to popular belief, the femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO) does not have a good functional outcome when compared to Total Hip Replacement.”
